The Benefits of Cereal

General Mills

October is a very special month for General Mills. General Mills sells monster cereals this month. The flavors of monster cereal are Boo Berry, Count Chocula, and Franken Berry.

Cereal is a uniquely American invention. No other country has a healthy grain-based solution enjoyed by millions. Cereal in the USA is a $8.5 billion industry.

As a company, General Mills works toward more sustainability in cereal/oat grains products. We love to have customers enjoying cereal and live a healthy lifestyle.

Cereal is a great starting tool for breakfast.

Scientific research has claimed that children who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight than children who eat breakfast every day. Children that don’t eat breakfast are more likely to experiment with drugs or alcohol.

Breakfast is the most important meal for starting your day and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Cereal brands have partnered with athletes to make an impact by encouraging exercising and proper diet. Athletics have always been important to growing and helping maintain your health.

Cereal is great for family time

Some cereal boxes have brain puzzles that grow your brain and encourage discussion among family members. Cereal unites a busy family in the morning. In a day in age where it is more common for people to have a family meal around breakfast than around dinner. Cereal is the new uniter of families.

Cereal is great for long-term storage and makes excellent snacks. If you live in a disaster-prone area cereal can be used for up to a year and not spoil. Cereal is easy to transport and is commonly used in food drives.

Cereal also works with nonprofits to help feed those in need. General Mills has donated over $2.5 Billion since 1998. If you eating a box of cereal, you are helping feed the homeless. Feeding the hungry with your hunger is one of the best things a consumer can do.

Most cereal is healthy.

Cereals do have more sugar than oatmeal, however, they are healthy due to the added vitamins within cereal. All cereals have vitamins added to them to create better-tasting and more nutritious cereals. With cereal, you can get your daily dose of calcium, folic acid, and iron. These minerals aid in sight, bone growth, and blood function.

Aside from this cereal is low in saturated fats, cholesterol, and trans fats. Saturated fats come from fast foods and can often lead to the building of plaque which can be fatal if saturated fats are over consumed. Cholesterol is associated with heart attacks and is commonly excluded from cereal. Trans fats are in butter and hydrogenated oils. They are made in labs and have been known to cause cancer.
