Week One Update Post

Weekly Update Week One

This month I learned the difference between real customers vs targeted customers for a company called Masterworks.io. Masterworks.io is an art investment platform that allows inventors to buy fractional shares in pieces of artwork. If you want to follow my progress and see how I reached my goals, feel free to explore around.

The goal of the project: Learn who the actual customers are for Masterworks.io vs the customers they target in ads. Sometimes the actual customer is not the customer they want in ads.

How to accomplish this goal: The eight steps to learn the actual customer are as followed:

  1. Learning about customers targeted in ads by watching 10 ads by Masterworks.io and creating a short blog post.
  2. Build a Survey in Survey Monkey to reach customers or potential customers.
  3. Send out a survey and gather 500 pieces of data to get a full map of the customer.
  4. Analyze the data using Airtable and filter out irrelevant data.
  5. Build a target customer portfolio and write a blog post on the differences
  6. Build a three ad campaign using social media or other mediums.
  7. Package the final product to share with the world
  8. Write a final thoughts piece on the overall project and how it all went.

In week one I accomplished these tasks.

-Wrote an outline of the project timeline

-Built a rough draft of the landing page for the project

-Watch ten ads related to Masterworks.io

-Built a blog post based on three of those ads

-Designed a survey to discover demographics about a customer

-Revised the survey  for usability and quantitative results

Here were my goals for week one

  • Research ads for Masterworks.io
  • Build a blog post based on three of those ads
  • Design a survey to learn about customers and how customers interact with the product
  • Write a blog post about accomplishments and failures.

What went well

Overall the project and the timeline are being met and I am on track to accomplish my goals for week one and beyond. I feel adequate about the time needed to accomplish my goals.

What didn’t go well

I didn’t watch any ads on social media for the company Masterworks.io. Instead, I read blog posts and videos based on Masterworks. By not watching these, I am a little bit unsure of the social media reach and how well social media works for Masterworks.io. Next week when distributing the survey, I will actively engage with their Instagram and/or Youtube channel.

The week ahead

Next week will be focused solely on distributing the survey to 500 people. I hope to reach 500 people in 5 days which is very ambitious. The survey data will be collected during the last day next week and will be filtered using Airtable. Next week will be a deep dive into data collection and methods of collecting data.
