This month I learned the difference between real customers vs targeted customers for a company called Masterworks.io. Masterworks.io is an art investment platform that allows inventors to buy fractional shares in pieces of artwork. If you want to follow my progress and see how I reached my goals, feel free to explore around.
The goal of the project: Learn who the actual customers are for Masterworks.io vs the customers they target in ads. Sometimes the actual customer is not the customer they want in ads.
How to accomplish this goal: The eight steps to learn the actual customer are as followed:
- Learning about customers targeted in ads by watching 10 ads by Masterworks.io and creating a short blog post.
- Build a Survey in Survey Monkey to reach customers or potential customers.
- Send out a survey and gather 500 pieces of data to get a full map of the customer.
- Analyze the data using Airtable and filter out irrelevant data.
- Build a target customer portfolio and write a blog post on the differences
- Build a three ad campaign using social media or other mediums.
- Package the final product to share with the world
- Write a final thoughts piece on the overall project and how it all went.
In week three I accomplished these tasks.
-Filtered the data using Airtable
-Analyzed customer demographics
-Compared the real customer to the target customer
-Redesigned ads to fit the real customer
-Built a weekly update
-Beginning to package the landing page
Here were my goals for week three
- Filter data using Airtable to get a real customer profile.
- Write a blog post about real customers vs target customers.
- Write a blog post about customer demographics.
- Redesign ads for Masterworks.io and build a blog post about new ads.
What went well
The project timeline is being met and I have built the ads for Masterworks.io. I need to focus on building the final touches on the project to make the project more polished. The ads were easy to create and the blog posts and the video went smooth this week.
What didn’t go well
I wasn’t able to create the ads to be super innovative. Instead, the designs were not as artistic as they could have been. With the tools, I used, it seems that the ads would only be moderately successful under the right circumstances. I plan on finalizing the packaging and not focusing on redesigning the ads because the ads are of decent quality. I will instead focus on packaging. The project is now focused more on building a final product than adding to the project.
The week ahead
Next week will be focused on packaging the project, finalizing the last blog posts, and exploring options in the design of the landing page. I want to make the landing page visible and exciting to look at. My goal is to have the blog post done by day one of week four. On days two and three of week four, I will be finalizing the project and doing a major edit on day five. On days six and seven of week four, I will be submitting the project and putting it on my website.
